Balmain Men's RTW Fall/Winter 2013: Martial Arts are My Style

Balmain Men's RTW Fall/Winter 2013-2014
Balmain Men's RTW Fall/Winter 2013-2014

Balmain has become one of my most sought out brands to be on top of my league. Olivier Rousteing has made the house more recognizable than what it was before (in my opinion), because the clothes feel more cool, masculine, and overall unique. They may be expensive jackets, but I assure you will not be disappointed of your purchase. I recently bought a shirt, which is a western inspired shirt dyed exquisitely perfect. The techniques used are beyond your average button denim shirt. For Balmain’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection, martial arts was the new lifestyle for Balmain. This is what I admire about Olivier, that besides a theme collection, he thinks deeper into what his punk, urban guy is going to do next. The details are what make the jackets the best when investing in a piece you want to separate yourself from others. I wouldn’t mind a jacket from these fall babies, and hopefully you wouldn’t either.

Leopards and Hearts Are the New Must Have at Burberry - Burberry Prorsum Men's RTW Fall/Winter 2013

Burberry Prorsum Men's Fall/Winter 2013-2014 first look
Burberry Men's Fall/Winter 2013-2014 first look

Christoper Bailey seemed to have identified (not that he hasn’t) that the true heart of Burberry falls on our devotion of its fashion forward trench coats. A Burberry show is nothing without coats, regardless of what season we’re in. Colors were a must. Olive greens, burgundy, purple, and caramel coats were the main elements of this collection. Their unique military inspired designs are what induced us to this ultra-masculine British outerwear, which Christopher always knows very well how to incorporate. Remember when we stated a while ago that it felt like Bailey wanted to portray a more opened man who’s not afraid of colors and patterns. Well, for Burberry’s Prorsum Fall/Winter 2013 presentation, he did it again. Leopard prints screamed the new must have here. Shoes, coats, sunglasses, bags, and lapels were all covered on this runway. Preppy could describe the well fitted suits, which sort of felt a little slouchy, layered with printed hearts and shirts. Trench coats sprayed with hearts ended marking the man who’s not afraid to wear anything. One of our favorites was the red cashmere sweater stamped with white hearts which we ought to see in editorials very soon. Besides those leopard shoes, studded black numbers made it to the runway as well. The presentation ended with the final models wearing very original semi-transparent rubber trench coats, which seemed adequate to wear for a rainy weather. Who wouldn’t want to look like that in the rain? If any, the last two trenches should become your new wish list for next’s fall 2013 trend.

Dappered Men at The People's Choice Awards

Friday, January 11, 2013

Men also proved they had a good sense of style when dressing up for The People’s Choice Award ceremony. Some seemed they needed help, but others surpassed with well tailored suits. Sometimes, the more you risk it, the more crucial it can get. Other times, it’s best to keep it standard. Below are some of the men that proved they owned the suit.

Ian Somerhalder couldn't look any more dapper than in this Dior Homme piece. When in doubt, black should be your best choice when going formal.

Joanna Sykes, British designer, was appointed several months ago to be the new creative director of Nicole Farhi. Nicole Farhi’s British designs have had an “edgy” kick to the brand, but with great respect, nothing as edgy and of high standards as the one Joanna Sykes presented at London's Fall/Winter 2013-2014 Menswear collection. Sykes presented well tailored suits that had a casual feel which would please several men who are searching for that It Suit. Casual, edgy, and sophisticated were some words that could be used to describe this presentation. Knitwear had a fine appeal and uplift to the overall clean collection. Any generation of men could definitely feel comfortable wearing a piece from the collection; no risk is run, for Joanna has you covered. I, in general, am curious to know just like the neutral colors Sykes showcased here, how well could Sykes manage other colors that are of concern for several men. Time will tell later, but for now were left to enjoy, and begin our wishlist for next's upcoming fall/winter 2013 collections.

Alexander McQueen Fall 2013 RTW - Sartorial Look

Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 2013 Menswear
Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 2013-2014 Menswear Collection

Alexander McQueen presented today its Fall/Winter 2013-2014 menswear collection in London. We should be familiar with Alexander as the master of sartorial craftsmanship.  If you were to take a closer look at the details, you’d find that every garment is impeccably tailored. Owning a piece from this brand is a treasure that may be expensive, but what you’ll be receiving is pure quality.

Sarah Burton has done an excellent job in keeping the house codes of the brand. Pinstripes were the first introduction in the collection, which seemed like a trompe de l’oeil, as it appeared as if the stripes were drawn with chalk.

Gray suits contrasted with diverse hue patchwork needed no more reminders to what the house of Alexander McQueen is famous for.

Vivid colors such as orange and red could not run away in this collection. Velvet suits (to what I could tell), coats, and shirts were no doubt the proper way to end the first day of men’s Fall/Winter 2013-2014 London menswear collection.

Burberry's Spring/Summer 2013 Metallic Shades

Christopher Bailey of Burberry took quite a risky route for the brand. Bright metallics were the center of attraction at this runway. If your one of those guys who really enjoys grabbing attention, then look no further, because Burberry has all the colors for you. Burberry, renowned for its exquisite coats, updated their jackets and coats in a shiny manner. For some it probably may not be of their taste. I enjoyed most of the collection, but I felt Bailey wanted to send a message across. It may be time for men to step out of their comfort zone, and experiment more with colors and texture. Those are just my thoughts. We'll have to wait and see what Burberry presents this Saturday for its Fall/Winter 2013-2014 collection in Milan. Would you be willing to be introduced into a new type of region?
